Star Wars: Underworld, 1313, And Ragtag

Past

Underworld, 1313, and Ragtag are three projects that a lot of Star Wars fans have heard about but never saw release. All three of them had a large scope and spent lots of time in development before eventually simmering out. However, because of the amount of time all three of them spent in development, their DNA is all over Star Wars projects released in the last decade. This has always made them a really interesting topic to study for me. They’re some of the biggest Star Wars stories never told.

The Legend of Lehon

“Of course, if you believe the Legend of Lehon, Tatooine was once covered by lush jungle, the domain of the Kumumgah, although little evidence has been found for their existence. That said, no one has ever been able to decrypt the pictograms in the Ghorfa cavern.”

A History of Kyber Crystals

Kyber crystals date all the way back to early drafts of what would become A New Hope, where a “kiber” crystal served as a MacGuffin, one of the crystals that allowed the Force to be collected and transmitted through it. George dropped the idea, feeling the Force should be able to be used without an external source. The basic idea was recycled into a “kaiburr” crystal in the very first expanded universe novel, Splinter of the Mind’s Eye. The crystal in Splinter also served as a MacGuffin, capable of magnifying one’s Force ability.

Corulag or Five Points: Jyn’s Imprisonment

This is just a little thing that’s bugged me a bit for probably over a year and a half at this point. I thought I’d write a short post about it now that Scum and Villainy (released widely today) made me think about it again. Basically, sources are inconsistent about Jyn’s imprisonment and I’m going to go over what the different things say, why, and what a solution could be.

Members of the Jedi High Council

Summary and Before The Phantom Menace

The Jedi High Council is comprised of twelve members at any given time: five members who serve for life, four members who serve long-term, and three limited-term members. Sifo-Dyas had a seat on the Council until his extremist views on a war that he foresaw caused his removal. Other older members include Jor Aerith, Tera Sinuba, and Yula Braylon.

Misconceptions About the Lucasfilm Story Group

This idea has been floating around in my head for a good long while, I even wrote something similar more than a year ago but it never saw the light of day. I think the Story Group is something that a lot of fans don’t fully understand, or they make assumptions about it that might not be entirely accurate. I wanted to do this post as a way to just help people understand what the purpose of the Story Group really is and what their job is meant to be.

Han’s Character Arc After A New Hope

So there’s been some minor debate about the timeline of various books and comics set after A New Hope. One that draws my attention the most is the Han Solo miniseries, where Han returns to the Rebellion after taking a break to pay off his debts. A lot of people assume that this series is set after the main Marvel line (the timeline in the Super Graphic book has it this way) but I’ve always felt like that was a bit off.
